Disney Dole Whip Recipe...

Who doesn't love the refreshing taste of a Dole Whip?! I'm going to share with you a recipe I found on Pinterest to curb your Disney taste buds! I was craving something sweet yet refreshing & came upon this recipe. This is SO quick & easy! I filmed a quick video to show you how easy this is! It is SO good!

http://youtu.be/_qTy2Wo3Xzk

Recipe:

1 20 oz. can of crushed or ring pineapple
1 Lime Squeeze as much juice from it as you can
2 T Sugar
1 8oz tub of regular cool whip

Place all ingredients into blender until smooth. You can either place mixture into popsicle molds or put into an ice cream maker like I did.

It took about 20 minutes for final product in my ice cream maker. I have had this Cuisinart one I really like.

ENJOY!

Final Product!

Disney's Magic Kingdom Plaza Restaurant Dinner Review...

Disney's Magic Kingdom Plaza Restaurant Dinner Review...

Our friend Charlotte recently returned from WDW & wrote up a review for us. You can find her Disney blog at: http://runningformickey81.blogspot.com

We had dinner reservations over at The Plaza Restaurant on Friday, February 20th and here is the review on the food and service.

Around 6:15-ish so we headed on over to The Plaza Restaurant to see if we could get seats before our ADR at 6:35pm. Before we got there I had to snap a quick shot of the Castle at Dusk!!! So pretty!!

We then headed on over to The Plaza Restaurant and checked in. They made it known that we were early and there was no guarantee that they could get us in beforehand. By this time we were around 15 minutes early. We were handed a pager and told to go have a seat outside and we would be ready when the pager came started to buzz. I really wanted to come back with a smart butted answer to the girl but I bit my tongue and walked off with the pager. We got to people watch for a few minutes before not too much time had gone by of when the pager went off. I want to say about 5-10 minutes. People watching is always fun at Disney World! It's so funny to see what people are wearing or what they are saying. I do happen to do this while at Walmart too...I may add to the fun too at times!!! :rolleyes1

We handed over our pager and made our way inside. We were seated towards the back where all the windows are and the emergency door is. Great seat to watch the sun setting and to take random pictures of the castle..like this one.

So we got the menu and ordered our drinks. I ordered a Coke & Water (bad idea with the water..it tasted horrible!) & Jason had a Coke!

Menu shots!

When our waitress came back to take our order I ordered the Grilled Ruben and Jason ordered the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger. We patiently waited for our food and soon it had come up. The issue we had with our waitress is she would disappear for a good long while before ever bringing back our refills on our soft drinks. Ugh. I hate when this happens too! Irritates me and sometimes they will know because I will tell them.

My Ruben was amazing and when we come back in September with the family and our best friends we WILL be eating here again! Jason said that his burger was amazing too and he would definitely order it again! He said that my sandwich looked better though...I'm guessing it was the 'kraut! Next up we had dessert and we ordered something different so we could sample each others! I ordered the Banana Split and Jason ordered the Brownie Sundae. They both were huge and neither of us could finish either one! I felt kind of bad for wasting food but honestly I ate my entire sandwich and fries and I was stuffed by the time I took my 5th bite of the dessert. We asked for our check and left a tip. I really wanted to leave her a tip on how to not disappear and to bring back refills when you said you would bring them back. Instead I had to ask the manager for a refill because she never brought one to be and it had been a good 20 minutes. I was thirsting to death people!

Total cost for the meal was $52.66 and we left her a $6 tip. I would have left her more if she was more efficient in bringing me my refills in a timely manner! We thankfully didn't have to pay the $52.66 because we had the dining plan so we just left the tip for her on the magic bands instead.

Princess Half Marathon Expo Review...

Written by: Charlotte Strickland

I wanted to introduce everyone to one of my good Disney friends. Charlotte is a fellow WDW Lover who also has a Disney blog & is a Disney Travel Agent!

You can find her blog at: http://runningformickey81.blogspot.com/

This is her latest review:

Princess Half Marathon Expo

I think now that I've been home for a week, it's time to go ahead and write up a little something on the Princess Half Marathon Expo. With it being my first race, first half everything I wasn't quite sure as of what to do as far as the expo goes and what all I wanted but after seeing the Dooney & Bourke design this year, I actually wanted one. I'm not a hog for those things but let me say that some people are. That's a different story on that one and how I figured that out.

So we headed on over to the expo after checking into Port Orleans Riverside which is in the Epcot area and I was so excited to be heading to get my packet information and all that. I had already printed my race waiver but when we got there I realized I had left it in the room. Whoops. My bad. I kind of panicked a bit but was reassured that I could print one off there at the expo which was wonderful. I don't know of any other races that will allow you to do so before the race and while picking up your race information. I soon grabbed a picture of myself by the runDisney Princess 1/2 Marathon Banner and soon was making my way on into the building.

After going down the stairs to get to where you would go get your race packet, I had to stop off at the computers and print my waiver and sign it. Next time I'm putting it in my purse instead signed and all. :) Then I headed on into the room where I stood in line to get my race bib, information, commemorative pin and event guide. I was so excited. I then signed for it and showed my Photo ID. Thankfully I had just gotten that in the mail with my correct mailing address so that was perfect timing.

After that I headed over to the runDisney Official Merchandise Booth where I was hoping to score myself a D&B Wristlet, and a "I Did It" Race Shirt but I didn't grab either one. Nope...couldn't find either one. Apparently there were mugs too that were sold out as well. I was a little disappointed in not being able to grab what I wanted but I did grab a car magnet so that worked out well.

Then went on over to the Josten Building to pick up my race shirt and gear check bag and then to see what all the other vendors were. I knew that I wanted to check out Sparkleskirts and I wanted to get some more KT Tape and some more Margarita Clifshot Bloks. But that was it...or so I thought. I ended up checking out a few skirts but they unfortunately didn't have my size and so I just decided to wait to get them. It's no problem for me to wait right? Maybe or maybe not. Haha. Then I walked around a bit and got in line to get a free banana but then when it was my turn they decided to take a freaking picture with the chiquita lady. No thanks I wanted the free freaking banana!!! I got out of line and continued on my merry little way. Then I came across the Sweaty Bands Stand and had to check them out. I had heard of them before but had never tried them out before. I found one that would match my costume perfect for the race on Sunday and asked Jason if I could get. Of course he said he didn't care. I always ask even if I know what the answer will be because I'm not the one who is making the money. He is.

Soon we made our way around the building and we were able to purchase 2 of the clifshot bloks that I wanted and some more KT Tape that would stay on my legs more than a freaking day! Holla! That's exactly what I needed! I also tried some of the clifshot gel while there and fell in love with it. I had tried GU Gel before and honestly hated it so this was a refreshing way to find out that I loved Clifbar's better!

Soon we made our way out the door of the building and we headed on over to Magic Kingdom where we had Dinner Reservations at The Plaza Restaurant. Yum! A Favorite for us now!!!

Life at Disney as a Vegetarian...

Written by Danielle

Life at Disney as a Vegetarian...

I just came back from WDW and wanted to write a review on my experience of eating there as a person who eats a vegetarian diet. I ate only at counter service venues and I found it surprisingly easy to get a good vegetarian meal on the go!

Here is what I ate and my reviews:

Epcot @ Sunshine Seasons: The Oak-grilled Vegetable Flatbread Sandwich- This was AMAZING. It's a flatbread with hummus spread on it with grilled zucchini, roasted red peppers, spinach, olives, (maybe eggplant too, I don't remember), and topped with feta cheese. You can choose potato salad or cole slaw so I got the potato salad. It was very filling and satisfying. The flatbread was SO GOOD too! It tasted like whole wheat and was very soft and held up all the ingredients very well!

Flatbread

Animal Kingdom @ Yak and Yeti Counter Service: The Roasted Vegetable Couscous Wrap. This wrap was so good that I emailed WDW for the recipe LOL! There was definitely more couscous than veggies in this wrap, but it was so good that I didn't care. The couscous had a delicious blend of spices.. possibly cumin, cinnamon, and curry (that's why I want the recipe so I can be sure and make it at home!) and while the veggies were very few and far between, I remember some chickpeas, onion, pepper, and possibly zucchini. This was all wrapped up in a super soft lavash flatbread. It came with a yogurt sauce reminiscent of tzatziki sauce that was really tasty and elevated the flavor of the wrap and a small bag of grapes.

Downtown Disney @ Marketplace Snacks: Grilled Vegetable Wrap. This was definitely a hidden surprise! This was a pretty non-descript snack stand in the middle of Downtown Disney that had stuff like popcorn, hotdogs, drinks, and had two wraps: this one and an Italian one. I was delighted to see a veggie option at a place with such a limited menu. This was a wrap that had zucchini, roasted red pepper, spinach, tomatoes, hummus, and balsamic dressing served with a bag of Lay's potato chips. It sounds boring but I think the veggies were grilled in sesame oil which gave it a great boost in flavor. It was nice eating this on a bench while people watching.

Magic Kingdom @ Columbia Harbor House: The Lighthouse Sandwich. THIS is what I had been really looking forward to eating ever since I stumbled across it while looking up Disney menus online and it did NOT disappoint! It's a sandwich that has hummus, thick slices of tomato, and broccoli slaw coated in honey mustard dressing, on huge slices of multigrain bread served with homemade chips. It was just really good and after I let my sister have a bite she wished she ordered it instead of her salmon platter lol. This is definitely a sandwich I will mimic at home! I also just love the Columbia Harbor house in general because it's nice and quiet in the upstairs dining section and I always get my picture taken pretending to steer the huge ship wheel LOL!

Overall, I was very impressed with the vegetarian food choices at WDW. Everything I ate was delicious and satisfying enough to keep me energized at the parks. That was a huge concern of mine since sometimes vegetarian meals leave you still hungry an hour later. I am happy that WDW is very vegetarian friendly and mindful of having at least one meatless choice at almost all of their food venues. I highly suggest you try some of these meals even if you are not a vegetarian because they are super delicious! It makes me even more excited to go back so I can try even MORE veggie meals! YAAAAY!

Oh and P.S... Try the Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake at the Funnel Cake kiosk in the America section of World Showcase in Epcot. It's $1.50 more than a regular funnel cake but OH SO worth it! My family descended upon it like locusts lol!

TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast Review *SPOILERS*

TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast Review *SPOILERS*

Written by Marc Disney

All you need is faith, trust and pixie dust to carry you to Neverland, the setting for TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast, the 7th installment in the TinkerBell series (available on blu-ray and dvd). Fun-loving Fawn, the Animal Talent Fairy, always thinks with her heart and rarely with her head. After an incident involving a baby hawk, Fawn promises Queen Clarion to be more careful. However, her curiosity gets the better of her when a mysterious roar draws her to a dark part of Pixie Hollow, where she finds a creature known as the NeverBeast. Fawn soon discovers a legend that says that her new furry friend would destroy Pixie Hollow. She must trust her heart and her instincts to prove the legend false. Will Fawn succeed or is Pixie Hollow doomed? These questions and more are answered in this beautifully breathing –taking chapter in TinkerBell’s saga.

From a fan’s point of view, the story was beautifully told with a great lesson about not judging people (or in this case animals) by their appearance. My only gripe about the story is the ending. After rescuing Gruff from the Scouts, Fawn and the others take him back home where he will hibernate for 1000 years. Fawn mentions that it will be the last time she will see him, leaving the viewers heartbroken. It just seemed like a waste, to rescue him only to lose him. True, he was only hibernating but it’s the principle of it. Walt always wanted to leave the audience feeling good and I don’t feel this ending upheld his belief in a happy ending.  Besides this complaint, the overall story and animation was wonderful. It had the same amazing animation from the last 6 films while giving the audience another area of Neverland to explore. In addition to this, another element to this story is the fact it took you to a darker side of Pixie Hollow that hadn’t been seen in previous films. While the image of Scull Rock from “The Pirate Fairy was intimidating and no doubt brought back memories of Tiger Lily’s capture by Hook, the use of dark colors such as gray and green added an element of fear that helped the story without making it too scary for younger viewers.  The music (the score once again composed by Joel McNeely) also assisted the story with a beautiful accompaniment by singer-songwriter  Bleu, including  a single “1000 Years” (which is heard over the ending credits). In conclusion, TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast, while lacking in a few plot points, is a wonderful edition to the TinkerBell series that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. This films ranks at A-.

Stay tuned for my review on Cinderella (in theater March 13th).

Be Our Guest Lunch Review...

Be Our Guest Lunch Review...

This was my first time ever dining at Be Our Guest. We stayed at the French Quarter resort so got an email about 22ish days before our trip to make a reservation through FastPass Plus. We could either select our meal then or wait until we got there.

We checked in about 20 minutes early & the cast member told us to go inside to wait in line. Our reservation was for 12:00pm. Even though we pre-ordered our whole meal we still had to stand in the line in the hallway where the suits of armor are. It took us about 20ish minutes to get through the line to the area with the pay screens. You will verify what you ordered by scanning your Magic Band. It does give you the option to split payment because we used that option. Cast Members were everywhere to help you if you got confused anytime using the system.

After we paid we were lead to a dining room. We were lucky & found a table in the Ballroom area. It was beyond beautiful BUT loud in there!

When we found a table we asked a cast member how our food would find us & all she said was "magic" & winked at us. We were amazed when our food arrived to us about 25 minutes later. At one point I got up to use the restroom & saw a device that looked like an iPhone on the side of one of the carts & it had a GPS on it?! So apparently the Magic Bands have GPS in them? I guess that is good for Lost Children etc....We got our whole order at once. I ordered the soup, turkey sandwich, & grey stuff cupcake. Rachel ordered the braised pork. We took turns guarding our table while the other got their drink & silverware. The silverware was all the way over on the other side of room & hard to find. That is my only thing I thought that was confusing.

Soda Area

They bring your meals out on these large carts. It was so cool! I've never been to a place that did that before. :)

I was worried that I would not like the sauce on my turkey sandwich. I am a VERY picky eater! I absolutely LOVED my sandwich! I would order it again in a heartbeat. I believe they make the bread fresh here as well? The Potato Leek soup was excellent! I was on the fence about getting the soup but am glad I did. The only thing I really disliked was the french fries that came with my meal. I didn't think that they tasted good at all but didn't eat many of them. My soup was more than enough for a side.

Inside the turkey sandwich

Rachel let me try her braised pork & it was SO tender! I highly recommend that dish especially since it is half the price at lunch.
Braised Pork

Grey Stuff Cupcake

Now on to dessert! This was my first time ever trying the "real" grey stuff. I have made a knock off recipe many times at home.

I actually prefer the homemade recipe Grey Stuff over the actual Be Our Guest one. I didn't think it was quite as flavorful. Don't get me wrong I liked it......it just wasn't as good as the homemade version.

All in all I think this is a GREAT quick service addition to the Magic Kingdom Park! You can now book an ADR here for lunch.I hope it won't be hard to get into for my next trip! Good luck to everyone getting reservations for lunch or dinner!

Here is a video of the inside of the restaurant.
