Top 5 Cool Treats at Disney

Honorable mention to my favorite cool treat :PeachTree Punch at the Brown Derby ;)

5) I stood in line for 15 minutes to get a taste of this. I am talking about the refreshing strawberry banana smoothie at the KRNR Food truck at Disney's Hollywood Studios! For a full review on the cart & experience go here:

4) You know I'm going to suggest the famous PBJ shake at PrimeTime 50's at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You don't need a reservation in order to get this. You can order at the Tune In Lounge Bar. They will even give you a to-go cup! For a detailed review on our experience at Primetime 50's click here:

3) Who has ever seen a picture of the HUGE homemade cookie ice cream sandwich from Magic Kingdom & didn't want to try one?! You can get these at Sleepy Hollow or the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor. For a detailed review on this please click here:

2) This was a VERY hard decision. My beloved Storybook Treats Sundae is one of my favorites. It is the one thing I always have to have on a trip. If you love soft serve sundaes with decadent toppings this place is for you! Here is a review on Storybook Treats. P.S. It is worth standing in line for!!!

1) What may you ask beat out my beloved Storybook Treats Sundae? Drumroll Please............ You cannot understand my love for this unless you try it for yourself. Unfortunately you can only get this by getting a reservation at Via Napoli. Luckily snagging an ADR here is pretty easy. I am talking about no there than the pistachio gelato!!! The gelato here is homemade everyday! It is way better than any ice cream I've ever tried! Give it a shot. Click here for my detailed review on Via Napoli:

Disney College Program: Homesickness

Disney College Program: Homesickness

Doing the Walt Disney World College Program was my first time away from home. I never spent more than 2 weeks away from my parents in my life. I'm not going to lie it was HARD! The first month I lost 10-15 lbs. because I was so homesick & anxious all of the time. I didn't have to meet new people, make new friends, have a new job in a VERY long time. I called my mom so much she told me to stop calling & when I stopped she called me & got mad that I stopped calling?! haha ;) She sent me care packages a lot though which was nice.

If you were accepted into the WDWCP & are worried about this let me give you some advice. DO NOT GO HOME! No matter how homesick you are missing your friends & family don't do it. Yes, it is hard but you become stronger going through these kind of life altering events. I used to be DEATHLY shy it was unbearable! After working at WDW I can safely say it gave me great confidence & skills to help me in my life. I wouldn't take back any of it. I wouldn't be where I am today without Disney.

Whenever I got really sad & homesick I would go to Magic Kingdom to ride Space Mountain & to ToonTown to visit Mickey Mouse. After I went there I ALWAYS felt a million times better. You just need to find that "thing" that makes you happy to cheer you up be it an attraction, restaurant, or something else.

After you get to know people be it co-workers or roommates/neighbors some of them will become lifelong friends. I interned at WDW back in 1999 & 2000. I still talk to at least 15 people if not more who I knew while living in Florida.

Sadly the guy on my friend's back in the above picture died quite a few years ago. Please keep in touch with your friends you met at Disney. Only another WDWCP Alumni can understand the experience as well as the withdrawal after getting home. We are family. Anytime I meet another WDWCP Alumni we have a bond no one else could understand.

One of my friends ended up leaving the program after her boyfriend came to visit her at Vista Way. She made up a lie that she had mono & had to leave but we knew the truth. She just couldn't handle being away from her family & friends & quit.

Please don't be a quitter you will thank me later. :)

Disney VANS New Shoe Collection & Haul...

Disney VANS New Shoe Collection & Haul...

Today is June 5th so that means VANS & Journey's have released their new Disney shoe VANS collection! I got to the mall as soon as they opened. ;) My VANS store had a HUGE display as soon as you walked into the store with the display racks of shoes, plus tables of Disney socks, shirts, backpacks,& more.

I immediately grabbed the Donald Duck & Princess adult shoes to try on. The guy was SUPER friendly & helpful. He mentioned to me that these just came out today & I told him I knew ;) I bought these shoes at the Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling, Virginia.

If you were a teenager in the 90's odds are that you had at least one pair of VANS. I probably had at least 3 or 4 pair of VANs growing up. I love Disney & I love VANS so it makes sense that I would love these! The size 9 fit me PERFECTLY! If you have a wider foot these might not be for you. These shoes are $60 each pair since they are Limited Edition. I found 2 pair at my VANS store & the other pair I wanted at Journey's.

Beautiful boxes that I will NOT throw away or recycle!

The shoes are wrapped not in tissue paper but nice plastic sheets with Disney characters printed on them! They think of everything! The sales guy at VANS told me that Disney printed a hidden Mickey on the shoes as well. ;)

I think you can only find the Villains VANS shoes at Journey's in store. That store was the COMPLETE opposite of VANS. There was absolutely NO signage of the new Disney Shoe collection anywhere in the store. They actually had the Disney collection behind the counter put away where you couldn't even see them?! The sales guy saw my see-thru VANS bag of 2 boxes of Disney shoes & told me he had some. The only kind my Journey's had was the Princess shoes I got, some colorful Fab Five ones I wasn't that into & the Villains shoes I had to have! For as much marketing Journey's put out online about having the Disney Collection I was a bit shocked of the lack of advertising in my store.

You can order the VANS Disney Collection online at:

Disney Intern Life: Working Disney's Magic Kingdom Parade Control ...

Disney Intern: Working Disney's Magic Kingdom Parade...

Pic Courtesy of 1923mainstreet.com

Every now & then I would be asked to work Overtime to help out with PAC. ( Parade Audience Control) I wasn't the biggest fan of this role. The guests didn't really listen & I would have to repeat myself several times to the same groups of people. PLEASE listen to directions that Cast Member's give you. It is all for your safety! Do you remember the trees with little fences/planters around them that used to be near the HUB? People would always try to stand inside of them& I would have to tell several people to find a new viewing location.

It can be very draining to say the same things over & over with a smile to upset guests. We would have to rope off certain areas & I could hear guests mumbling profanities at me under their breath. I never got mad to the point of being rude thank heavens! I only worked Over Time a few times because of the environment. I couldn't handle the madness of the parade & give HUGE props to that crew of Cast Members! They put up with a lot & need to be rewarded more! Working in Fantasyland was nothing compared to working the parade!

My costume consisted of navy slacks, white short sleeve button down with a Magic Kingdom vest & matching bowtie.  The costume for PAC now it is much better than what I had in the 90's. ;)
